Today is the 30th anniversary of the legendary Pac-Man video game. Google make its very own Pac Man game embedded in their logo. The game had office mongers and gamers glued to the homepage. This isn’t the first time Google has created a fun themed logo that has everyone buzzing. They also recently teamed up with Sesame Street for their 40th anniversary.
The man behind this logo is Marchin Wichary, Senior User Experience Designer and Ryan Germick, Google Doodler.
PAC-MAN seems like a natural fit for the Google homepage. They’re both deceptively straightforward, carefully hiding their complexity under the hood. There’s a light-hearted, human touch to both of them. And we can only hope you find using Google at least a quarter as enjoyable as eating dots and chasing ghosts. You know, without actually needing any quarters.
Good post! Pacman’s a classic. It is among the least complicated yet most revolutionary games of all time.
