Schools in several counties in Virginia, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, West Virginia, New Hampshire and Massachusetts have canceled classes as the winter nor’easter prepared to dump several inches across a wide swath of the country. As the storm has pushed eastward, schools have been closed in Alabama, Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, South Carolina and North Carolina.
