“Super AMOLED” from Samsung is said to be getting a reveal next week at the big Mobile Congress show. The panel is said to be five times “clearer” and offer 20% better visibility when used outside — the biggest weakness of existing AMOLED devices like the Zune HD and Nexus One.
The screen itself is also poised to provide more than just a touchscreen woven into the surface. Samsung estimates that the screen is about five times “clearer” than regular OLEDs. It also reduces AMOLED’s characteristic weaknesses outdoors and should be about 20 percent more visible in direct sunlight.
