Mila Kunis, The 27-year-old actress recently sealed a deal to play Theodora, the youngest of three witches in the new “Wizard of Oz” movie prequel, “Oz, the Great and Powerful.”
James Franco plays the title role, an illusionist who ends up in Oz after a tornado blows his hot air balloon off course and later becomes the wizard and ruler of the magical land.
Theodora starts off as a good witch but decides to join forces with her evil sisters after Franco’s character rejects her sexual advances, Variety said.
Sam Raimi, who directed Franco in the “Spider-Man” trilogy, is the director of “Oz, the Great and Powerful.”
Franco and Kunis played a couple in the 2010 comedy movie “Date Night,” which starred Steve Carell and Tina Fey.
The iconic 1939 movie “The Wizard of Oz” is based on the 1900 book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum. More than a dozen sequels were published and the third book, “Ozma of Oz,” was adapted into the 1985 movie “Return to Oz,” which stars Fairuza Balk and Jean Marsh.
