Slipknot Bassist Found Dead in Hotel Room

The bassist for the metal band Slipknot, Paul Gray is dead at the age of 38. His body was discovered by a hotel employee at the Towne Place Suites in Urbandale, Iowa on Monday. Gray and his wife were expecting their first child at the time of his death. Gray was known to his fans as “#2″ and “The Pig.” Born April 8, 1972, Paul Dedrick Gray co-founded the band Slipknot in 1995 with drummer Joey Jordison and percussionist Shawn Crahan.
The group is one of the most successful acts in metal, with a mass of fans that turn out for their electric shows, extreme costumes and dark, anthemic brand of thrash music. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, May 25, as Paul Gray’s cause of death is unknown.
