Oprah’s been mixing work and play in New York for the past several days. She was spotted by INF.com leaving the Upper East Side’s Phillippe Chow restaurant yesterday with Gayle King and singer Alicia Keys. On Sunday, she surprised some folks in Brooklyn as rap mogul Jay-Z toured her around his Marcy Projects neighborhood — thought to be for piece for O magazine. And on Monday, MTV reports that she called in to Gayle’s satellite radio show and gushed, “Oh, Jay-Z, my new best friend.”

When King teased her that she was smitten with the rapper, Oprah replied: “He was so charming and delightful, and he smelled so good! And it’s that kind of thing where you hug a guy, and the scent is sort of buried in them. When we went to the second location, I could still smell him on me. It was like, ‘Oh, this is wonderful.’ ”

She added, “It was really a conversation, and at the end of the day, you feel like you get to know someone,” she said. “I feel like I met a new friend. It was really great.” It’s likely they were also talking about Jay-Z’s next album, The Blueprint 3, due in stores on Sept. 11.

Winfrey was also seen eating at Planet Hollywood in Times Square Saturday night and munching on Hershey Kisses at Dylan’s Candy Bar on 3rd on Sunday.
